Job Purpose

The Senior Network Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of the organization's network infrastructure. The position ensures the availability, performance, reliability, and security of wired and wireless network services and supports the organization's business and technology requirements.

The role provides advanced technical support for network-related incidents, leads network troubleshooting and improvement activities, and works with internal IT teams and external service providers to maintain a stable and secure network environment.

Key Responsibilities

A. Network Administration and Infrastructure

• Administer and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and other network infrastructure.

• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, access points, and related network devices.

• Manage network services, including VLANs, DHCP, DNS, IP addressing, routing, and network access controls.

• Monitor network availability, performance, capacity, and utilization.

• Identify network bottlenecks, performance issues, and potential points of failure and implement corrective actions.

• Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, IP address records, and technical documentation.

• Ensure network infrastructure remains aligned with approved architecture and technical standards.

B. Network Security

• Implement and maintain network security controls in coordination with the Information Security function.

• Configure and maintain firewall rules, VPN access, network segmentation, access controls, and security policies within the scope of the role.

• Monitor network traffic and security events for unusual or suspicious activity.

• Support the investigation and resolution of network-related security incidents.

• Ensure network devices are maintained with approved firmware, patches, and security updates.

• Apply the principle of least privilege when configuring network access.

C. Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting

• Monitor network infrastructure using approved network monitoring and management tools.

• Diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity, performance, and availability issues.

• Analyze network logs, alerts, traffic patterns, and performance data to identify root causes.

• Lead troubleshooting activities for critical network incidents and service interruptions.

• Conduct root-cause analysis for major and recurring network incidents and recommend preventive measures.

D. Network Projects and Implementation

• Participate in the planning, design, implementation, and testing of network infrastructure projects.

• Configure and deploy network devices, wireless infrastructure, VPN solutions, and network services.

• Support network upgrades, expansions, migrations, and technology refresh projects.

• Assess network requirements for new systems, facilities, applications, and services.

• Prepare technical specifications and contribute to the evaluation of network equipment and solutions.

• Coordinate with vendors and contractors during network implementation and maintenance activities.

• Conduct testing and validation following network changes and implementations.

F. Network Availability and Business Continuity

• Support the implementation and maintenance of network redundancy and high-availability solutions.

• Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning for network services.

• Perform network backup and configuration recovery activities in accordance with established procedures.

• Test network failover and recovery procedures when required.

• Identify network infrastructure risks and recommend measures to improve resilience.

G. Vendor and Service Provider Management

• Coordinate with Internet Service Providers (ISPs), network equipment vendors, and external service providers.

• Monitor vendor performance and ensure technical issues are followed through to resolution.

• Support contract, service, and technical evaluations related to network infrastructure.

• Review vendor recommendations and assess their suitability against organizational requirements.

H. Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain up-to-date network architecture diagrams and technical documentation.

• Document network configurations, changes, troubleshooting activities, and resolutions.

• Maintain network asset and configuration records.

• Prepare reports on network performance, availability, capacity, incidents, and risks.

• Provide technical input for IT audits, risk assessments, and compliance activities.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related field.

• Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP are preferred.

• Relevant IT service management or cybersecurity certifications are an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in network administration or network infrastructure, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

• Experience administering enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and firewall environments.

• Experience with network monitoring and management tools.

• Experience troubleshooting complex network and connectivity issues.

• Experience with network security solutions, including Sophos, network segmentation, access controls, and firewall administration

• Experience working with Internet service providers and external technology vendors.

• Experience participating in network infrastructure projects, upgrades, and implementations.

• Experience working in an IT service management environment is preferred.
