Purpose of the Job:
Identify, develop, and manage new business opportunities that support the company's growth objectives. The Business Development Engineer is responsible for leading client engagement, developing commercial proposals, coordinating cross-functional teams, negotiating commercial agreements, and supporting projects from opportunity identification through financial close while ensuring commercial viability and bankability.
Job Responsibilities:
Identify, qualify, and prioritize new business opportunities across targeted markets and sectors. Develop and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients to understand their business needs and identify suitable solutions. Conduct client meetings, presentations, and commercial discussions to promote the company's services and capabilities. Coordinate with Technical, Finance, Legal, EPC, and Operations teams throughout the project development lifecycle. Prepare and develop commercial proposals, quotations, and business cases tailored to client requirements. Support the development of commercial structures by coordinating technical scope, financial assumptions, and commercial terms. Participate in the preparation, review, and negotiation of commercial agreements, including NDAs, LOIs, PPAs, service agreements, and other project contracts. Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, payment conditions, project milestones, and contractual obligations with clients and stakeholders. Support financial modeling activities by coordinating with the Finance team and providing commercial inputs required for project evaluation and financial close. Monitor project development progress and ensure effective coordination between all internal stakeholders. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify industry trends, market opportunities, customer requirements, and potential risks. Monitor regulatory developments and market conditions affecting renewable energy and infrastructure projects. Maintain accurate records of business development activities, client interactions, and project pipelines within the CRM system. Prepare periodic business development reports, pipeline updates, and market intelligence reports for management. Utilize digital tools and technologies to support market research, proposal preparation, pipeline management, and overall business development activities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Background, Skills and Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred). Minimum 2 years of experience in Business Development, Commercial Engineering, Project Development, Technical Sales, or a related role within renewable energy, utilities, infrastructure, EPC, or industrial projects. Renewable energy experience is preferred. MBA is considered an advantage. Strong understanding of commercial proposals, project development, and contract negotiation processes. Basic knowledge of project finance principles, including Cap Ex, tariff structures, cash flow analysis, and project bankability. Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams including Engineering, Finance, Legal, EPC, and Operations. Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills. Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Strong presentation and proposal preparation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Power Point; experience with CRM systems is an advantage. Familiarity with commercial contracts, tendering processes, and proposal development. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic. Valid driving license and willingness to travel across project sites and client locations within Egypt. Ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively under pressure.
