Role Description The Planning Director role is a full-time, on-site position based in Cairo, Egypt. The Planning Director will lead project planning functions, including developing and maintaining project schedules, resource plans, and cost forecasts across multiple projects. Responsibilities include overseeing preparation of baseline and updated schedules, monitoring progress, identifying variances, and recommending corrective actions to keep projects on track. The role will coordinate closely with project managers, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to align timelines, milestones, and deliverables. The Planning Director will also contribute to strategic planning, support bid and tender submissions with time and resource estimates, and prepare regular planning reports and dashboards for senior leadership. The position involves mentoring planning staff, implementing best practices, and ensuring adherence to company standards and industry regulations.
Qualifications
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex project data and performance indicators (Analytical Skills, Research). Demonstrated expertise in project and construction planning, including schedule development, resource allocation, and risk assessment (Planning). Experience in strategic planning and long-term portfolio planning, preferably within engineering, infrastructure, or contracting environments (Strategic Planning). Ability to conduct market and competitive research to support business development, forecasting, and strategic decision-making (Market Research, Research). Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; a master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PSP) are an advantage. Proficiency with project planning and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and strong MS Excel skills. Proven experience in a senior planning role, ideally as Planning Manager or Planning Director, on large-scale infrastructure or tunneling projects. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and influence stakeholders. Strong leadership, team development, and mentoring capabilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and best practices. High level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
