Job Details

  • Since 1999, Project HOPE and its partners have worked to alleviate the suffering of people living with Gaucher disease in Egypt, preventing untimely deaths and improving health outcomes. The program has provided life-saving therapy free of charge to hundreds of patients, ensuring access to critical treatment through robust human, financial, and material resources.
  • While treatment has significantly improved the physical health of Gaucher patients, many continue to face substantial psychosocial challenges. Recognizing these challenges, Project HOPE aims to integrate Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services into the Gaucher Initiative. This essential addition will complement existing treatment, improve patient outcomes, and address the holistic needs of individuals living with Gaucher disease.
  • The Gaucher Initiative is currently implemented in eight treatment sites, but the initial phase of implementation will start with a 7-months pilot in Cairo, with strategic engagement with other treatment sites outside of Cairo. By integrating MHPSS into the Gaucher Initiative, Project HOPE seeks to foster resilience, improve emotional well-being, and enhance the overall quality of life for patients and their families.
  • The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Specialist will:
  • Design and implement structured group psychosocial interventions for patients living with Gaucher disease and their families or caregivers, while ensuring the strategic programming for MHPSS activities across the different treatment sites in Egypt. The MHPSS specialist will be responsible for both clinical and program management responsibilities. Additionally, the MHPSS specialist will support partner identification, entry and analysis of mental health data and monitoring and learning processes of the mental health pilot implementation into the Gaucher Initiative in Egypt.
  • Code of Conduct
  • It is our shared responsibility and obligation to treat each other with respect, take affirmative steps to prevent matters involving Sexual Exploitation & Abuse and Trafficking in Persons, and to disclose all potential and actual violations of our Code of Conduct, which may include Conflicts of Interest, Fraud, Corruption, Discrimination or Harassment. Together we can reinforce a culture of respect, integrity, accountability, and transparency.
