About the Role
We are seeking a Tech Lead who doesn't just write code, but acts as a true "Force Multiplier" for our engineering program.
Your primary goal is to build an autonomous, high-performing, and resilient team by systematically removing operational friction, coaching talent, and aligning execution with our broader departmental strategy. Balancing strategic people leadership with hands-on technical guidance, you will champion program delivery and team health while protecting your engineers from external distractions.
Key Responsibilities
People Management & Career Velocity
● Continuous Coaching & Career Planning: Conduct regular, structured 1:1s with every engineer in your program to evaluate morale, remove technical blockers, and track actionable career development paths.
● Performance & Competency Ownership: Run objective developer competency evaluations based on our progression framework, execute fair appraisals, and manage the program's evolving skills-matrix.
● Team Admin & Burnout Prevention: Balance sprint workloads dynamically across team members, manage vacancy/leave approvals, and maintain a sustainable pace of delivery to prevent burnout.
Process, Execution & "The Shield"
● Operational Protection: Serve as the primary operational shield for Technical Owners, absorbing non-technical interruptions and stakeholder negotiations before they impact active development.
● Agile Metrics & Bottleneck Resolution: Proactively monitor and analyze the program’s agile delivery metrics to spot structural bottlenecks and continuously refine team processes.
● Quarterly & Resource Alignment: Collaborate closely with Engineering Managers (EMs) and Product Managers (PMs) to align on quarterly objectives (OKRs), resource sharing across programs, and capacity planning.
Technical Mentorship & Architecture
● High-Value, Non-Blocking Contributions: Focus on high-value, non-blocking technical objectives (such as high-level system design, addressing architecture-level technical debt, or authoring essential engineering documentation).
● Quality Assurance & Architecture Reviews: Provide overarching architectural guidance across projects, champion automated testing standards in collaboration with QA, and conduct complex Pull Request (PR) reviews to ensure system reliability.
