Job Title: Accountant Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite Reports To: Finance Manager / Senior Accountant
Position Summary The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and assisting with periodic reporting. The ideal candidate has 2 years of hands-on accounting experience, proficiency in accounting software, and a solid understanding of Egyptian accounting standards (or IFRS/GAAP as applicable). This role requires accuracy, organization, and the ability to meet monthly closing deadlines. Key Responsibilities Daily Bookkeeping & Transactions Record all financial transactions (sales, purchases, payments, receipts) in the general ledger. Process vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and customer payments. Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and adjustments. Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure proper cost center allocation. Accounts Payable & Receivable (AP/AR) Monitor accounts payable: verify invoices, obtain approvals, schedule payments, and reconcile vendor statements. Monitor accounts receivable: issue customer invoices, track collections, follow up on overdue accounts, and apply cash receipts. Prepare aging reports and assist with collection efforts. Bank & Cash Management Reconcile bank statements on a monthly (or weekly) basis. Manage petty cash fund: process reimbursements, maintain receipts, and reconcile monthly. Assist with cash flow tracking and basic forecasting. Payroll Support Assist in preparing monthly payroll data (attendance, overtime, deductions, advances). Calculate and remit payroll taxes and social insurance contributions (as per local law). Tax & Compliance Prepare and file monthly/quarterly VAT returns (if applicable). Prepare withholding tax certificates and summaries. Assist with annual tax filings (corporate income tax) and coordinate with external auditors. Maintain organized records for statutory audits and tax inspections. Financial Reporting Prepare trial balance, income statement, and balance sheet on a monthly basis. Generate period-end reports (e.g., expense analysis, revenue by customer). Assist the Finance Manager in preparing budgets and variance analysis. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.2+ years of professional accounting experience (post-graduation). Solid understanding of Egyptian Accounting Standards (or IFRS) and local tax regulations (VAT, withholding tax, payroll tax). Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Odoo, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics). Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, IF functions). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to meet monthly closing deadlines. Good communication skills in Arabic (written) and working knowledge of English (reading invoices/emails). Preferred (plus) Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics). Knowledge of social insurance filing procedures in Egypt. Experience in [specific industry: trading / real estate / manufacturing]. Working toward or holding a professional certification (e.g., CMA, CFA Level 1, or SOCPA). Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Accuracy of journal entries (error rate < 1%). Timely completion of monthly closing (by 5th working day of next month). Bank reconciliation completion within 3 days of statement receipt. AP/AR aging (over 90 days kept below 5% of total). On-time filing of VAT and tax returns (no penalties).
