Job Purpose The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical designs for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pumping stations, water treatment plants, and wet utility networks, ensuring compliance with international standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities1. Design & Engineering Design mechanical systems for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pumping stations, treatment plants, and pipeline systems. Develop detailed design solutions for mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, filtration systems, HVAC systems, and related components. Prepare and review mechanical design deliverables, including P&IDs, layouts, and technical specifications. Ensure designs are optimized for efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.
2. Equipment Selection & Specifications Select and specify mechanical equipment (pumps, valves, compressors, etc.) based on project requirements.
3. Coordination & Project Integration
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, ICA) to ensure full integration of mechanical systems. Participate in design reviews and technical meetings with clients and stakeholders. Support project planning by contributing to scope, schedule, and resource estimation.
4. Compliance & Standards Ensure all designs comply with international standards and codes such as ASHRAE, ASME, ISO, and local Saudi regulations. Stay updated with the latest practices and regulations related to wet utility and water infrastructure projects.
5. Sustainability & Innovation Integrate energy-efficient and sustainable design practices into mechanical systems. Propose innovative solutions to enhance system performance and reduce operational costs.
General Responsibilities Perform any additional tasks assigned by the direct manager within the scope of work. Comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards. Ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
Minimum Education Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience7-10 years of experience in mechanical design engineering. Proven experience in water & wastewater (wet utilities) projects is a must. Experience in pumping stations and treatment plants is highly preferred.
Technical Skills Proficiency in design software such as Auto CAD, Revit, Solid Works (or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of:Pumping systems Piping design HVAC systems Familiarity with international codes and standards related to water infrastructure.
