Key dimensions:Main Duties & Responsibilities:Design mechanical systems for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pumping stations, water treatment facilities, and pipeline systems. Develop design solutions for mechanical equipment, including pumps, valves, filtration systems, heat exchangers, and HVAC systems. Ensure mechanical designs are optimized for reliability, efficiency, and ease of maintenance. Develop the scope, schedule, and budget for mechanical design work within each project. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders to ensure that the mechanical design is fully integrated with the overall project. Prepare detailed mechanical design drawings, including P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), layout drawings, and specifications. Ensure designs are clearly documented, accurate, and up-to-date. Specify mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, compressors, and other key components. Ensure that all selected equipment meets the required performance, cost, and reliability criteria. Ensure all mechanical designs comply with local codes, industry standards (such as ASHRAE, ASME, etc.), and safety regulations. Keep updated with the latest mechanical design regulations and best practices for wet utility projects. Conduct site assessments to understand project requirements, challenges, and opportunities for design improvements. Perform inspections of mechanical installations during construction to ensure they are being built according to design specifications. Oversee testing, commissioning, and startup of mechanical systems, ensuring all systems operate within their design parameters. Perform troubleshooting and ensure any issues encountered during testing are resolved promptly. Integrate energy-efficient design solutions and sustainable practices into mechanical systems to reduce operational costs and environmental impact. Research and implement innovative technologies that improve the performance and efficiency of mechanical systems. Person Specification Minimum Education Level:· B. Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering Background Knowledge, Skills & Experience:Essential· Experience:7-10 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with specific experience in wet utility projects (water, wastewater, or related infrastructure). Experience with the design of mechanical systems for pumping stations, water treatment plants, and related facilities is preferred.· Skills:Proficiency in mechanical design software (e.g., Auto CAD, Revit, Solid Works, or similar tools). Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design principles, including HVAC, pumping systems, and piping design. Familiarity with regulatory standards and codes related to mechanical design for water and wastewater systems. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).· Personal Attributes:Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality designs. Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Highly organized with a proactive approach to work.
