Purpose of the Role

The British International School, Cairo, is seeking a highly organised, meticulous and capable  Examinations Officer to manage all aspects of internal and external examinations administration. Key responsibilities include coordinating exam schedules, ensuring compliance with public exam board regulations, managing invigilations, handling exam papers and overseeing the smoothrunning of exams, as well as processing results and analysing data. The Examinations Officer will also produce transcripts for students as required.
Key Responsibilities

The Examinations Officer's key responsibilities and duties include:  

  • Ensuring that all GCSE  public examinations and tests are managed effectively;
  • Liaising with Teaching staff (HoDs) on public examination entries and ensuring they are accurately registered;
  • Liaising with I/GCSE Awarding Bodies on the administration of entries, coursework requirements, mark schemes, examination subject reports, the conduct of examinations, re-sits, remarks and examination results;
  • Liaising with I/GCSE Awarding Bodies on any special requirements for students/school and ensuring that appropriate provision is made;
  • Ensuring effective communication procedures are followed with students, parents and teaching staff in respect of examinations, including:
    • Liaising with students and parents in respect of appeals and results enquiries;
    • Communicating with students to ensure the accuracy of information provided to Awarding Bodies for examination entries;
    • Ensuring that students are aware of the Exam Boards’ requirements regarding their conduct whilst sitting examinations;
  • Liaising with the Deputy Head of Senior School to provide statistical information on examination entries/results;
  • Liaising with the staff on invigilation and rooms to be used for examinations;
  • Ensuring that invigilation timetables are produced to enable the operation of all examinations;
  • Producing transcripts as requested.
