Job Summary: The General Ledger Manager is fully responsible for overseeing all activities related to the general ledger, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data. The role manages monthly and annual closing processes, ensures compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS/GAAP), and leads the accounting team in delivering high-quality financial reports. The position also plays a key role in process improvement, strengthening internal controls, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:General Ledger & Accounting Operations Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded. Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and prepaid expenses prepared by the team. Monitor the integrity of balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Monthly & Annual Financial Closing Lead and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes in line with approved deadlines. Review trial balances, variance analyses, and supporting schedules for management reporting. Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with IFRS/GAAP and internal policies. Internal Controls & Compliance Implement and maintain effective internal control systems and clear accounting policies. Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, company policies, and control standards. Coordinate with internal and external auditors and provide necessary documentation and support. Process & Systems Improvement Drive efficiency and automation within general ledger and financial reporting processes. Collaborate with Finance and IT teams to enhance ERP systems and integration processes. Propose improvements to enhance closing efficiency and data accuracy. Team Leadership & Development Supervise and develop general ledger accountants to ensure high performance. Allocate tasks, monitor progress, and provide training and professional guidance. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork within the finance team.
Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification preferred (CPA, ACCA, CMA, or CA).7–10 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial general ledger role. Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP, financial reporting, and closing procedures. Experience with ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, Net Suite) and advanced proficiency in Excel. Experience in multinational or shared services environments is preferred.
