Role Overview The Marketplace Operations Manager will own and optimize the end-to-end operational performance of the marketplace. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence across seller onboarding, catalog, fulfilment models, post-order operations, and seller enablement, while ensuring scalability, efficiency, and a strong seller and customer experience.
A core part of the role is owning seller go live and knowledge management, including designing training materials, producing training content, and managing the full lifecycle of the seller knowledge base.
Key Responsibilities Marketplace Operations Own end-to-end marketplace operational processes, from seller onboarding and activation to post-order operations. Drive operational performance across key marketplace KPIs (Fulfillment%, OOS%, returns, SLA adherence). Identify operational gaps, inefficiencies, and scalability challenges, and lead process improvement initiatives. Act as the main operational point of contact with Product, Tech, Logistics, Finance, and Customer Experience teams. Support rollout and adoption of new marketplace features, policies, and process changes.
Seller Enablement & Training Design, develop, and maintain seller training materials focused on marketplace processes, policies, and best practices. Create and oversee training videos, guides, and process documentation to support seller onboarding and ongoing education. Ensure training content is clear, structured, and aligned with operational requirements and platform capabilities. Continuously assess seller knowledge gaps and proactively update training materials to address recurring issues.
Knowledge Base Ownership Own the full seller knowledge base lifecycle, including:Content creation and structuring Design and presentation standards Regular updates and version control Alignment with process and policy changes Ensure all seller-facing documentation is accurate, up to date, and easily accessible. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to validate content accuracy before release.
Data & Continuous Improvement Use data and operational insights to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities. Track the impact of training and process changes on seller performance and operational metrics. Provide regular reporting and recommendations to leadership on marketplace operational health.
Team Leadership Manage and develop Marketplace Ops Executives, ensuring clear ownership, performance tracking, and skill development. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Requirements5–8+ years of experience in marketplace operations, seller operations, or e-commerce operations. Strong understanding of marketplace business models and seller lifecycle management. Proven experience designing operational processes and scaling them effectively. Experience creating training materials, process documentation, or knowledge bases (hands-on ownership preferred). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
Nice to Have Experience working closely with Product or Tech teams on operational feature rollouts. Exposure to BI tools and operational dashboards. Experience managing teams in multi-seller or platform-based businesses.
