The Opportunity
Proposal and Renewal Analysis, Plan Change Underwriting, Client/Sales negotiation, case experience analysis, Exposure to financial arrangements, understand how underwriting/ pricing models are developed, participate in departments monthly/quarterly reports. The Underwriter begins to make simple decisions regarding deviations to standard underwriting / pricing rules. The Underwriter also gains exposure to P&L.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Effectively monitor and enforce compliance with GMD underwriting rules as published in Underwriting Manual.
- Provide underwriting directions for local cases within given authority level. For Large and complex cases, provide local assessment and input before sending on to Regional Office for review and approval.
- Assure timely collection and review of Renewal Activity Reports at local level and determine any exceptions to published GMD underwriting rules and report these to regional management and Home Office.
- Provide Support on underwriting audits and corrections in underwriting methodology or assumptions.
- Assist in IBNR adequacy studies, Trend review and Pricing Model updates for the local territory in addition to assisting in any annual review of other key underwriting assumptions
- Comply with MetLife Alico Code of Conduct and ensure that it is fully adhered to all times.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Strong record of success in leading business growth with significant P&L responsibility in same industry.
- 2-3 years of experience within the same function in the same industry.
- Accomplished change management leader, able to operate effectively in a highly matrix environment.
- High analytical skills- financial/ and Medical background is preferable.
- Thinks Strategically - Sets direction aligned to the company’s strategy, applying external and global perspective to meet local and global needs.
- Drives Results - Sets aggressive goals and is accountable for continuously driving improved performance, leading change and ensuring high standards.
