JOB PURPOSE:



The Depot Equipment Lead Engineer is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness, reliability, and safety of all depot machinery and systems. This role oversees maintenance planning and execution, manages documentation, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. Acting as a key authority, the Lead Engineer works closely with maintenance teams, operations, and management to ensure efficient and safe equipment performance.

JOB PURPOSE:



The Depot Equipment Lead Engineer is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness, reliability, and safety of all depot machinery and systems. This role oversees maintenance planning and execution, manages documentation, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. Acting as a key authority, the Lead Engineer works closely with maintenance teams, operations, and management to ensure efficient and safe equipment performance.



RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES



General Maintenance & Equipment Management



• Lead the development and execution of preventive and corrective maintenance programs.



• Monitor equipment performance and implement reliability-focused maintenance strategies.



• Coordinate with operations to align equipment availability with service schedules.



• Provide leadership and mentorship to maintenance teams.



• Participate in depot layout planning and equipment upgrades or replacements.



• Lead technical investigations and root cause analysis when required.



Maximo / CMMS Management



• Ensure CMMS (Maximo) data accuracy, integrity, and completeness.



• Utilize Maximo data for performance monitoring, decision-making, and reporting.



• Support digitalization and continuous improvement of maintenance workflows through Maximo.



Safety & Compliance



• Support and participate in audits, inspections, and compliance checks.



• Ensure adherence to safety and operational standards in all maintenance activities.



• Promote a strong safety culture across the depot.



ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE



Qualifications



• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.



• Advanced training or certification in maintenance management, reliability engineering, or asset management (e.g., CMRP, IAM).



• Proficiency in CMMS platforms (preferably IBM Maximo).



Knowledge



• Strong understanding of depot equipment (e.g., cranes, lifting equipment, wheel lathes, diagnostic tools, and specialized machinery).



• Knowledge of railway safety regulations, depot operations, and equipment usage.



• Solid grasp of engineering principles in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.



• Awareness of risk assessment and mitigation strategies in maintenance environments.



• Familiarity with regulatory audits and operational inspections.



Experience



• 5-7 years in equipment maintenance or engineering roles, preferably in rail or industrial sectors.



• Proven experience in leading teams and managing maintenance operations.
