Job Details

Role Purpose

The Road Transport Engineer ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the company’s road transport activities across the petroleum retail network, including tanker fleets and contracted transporters. The role supports engineering integrity, transport safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in logistics performance.

Key Responsibilities

A. Fleet Engineering & Technical Control

- Manage engineering integrity of fuel tankers, tractors, and trailers.

- Develop preventive maintenance programs and workshop standards.

- Approve technical specs for tankers, pumps, valves, and safety systems.

- Ensure calibration of meters, bonding/earthing, and emergency shutdown systems.

- Analyze breakdown data and recommend engineering improvements.



B. Transport Safety & Compliance

- Implement Road Transport Safety Management System (RTSMS).

- Ensure compliance with Egyptian regulations and hazardous goods laws.

- Conduct vehicle inspections, route risk assessments, and safety audits.

- Monitor GPS, telematics, fatigue indicators, and speed control.

- Verify tanker readiness and documentation before dispatch.



C. Contractor & Driver Competency

- Evaluate and approve transport contractors.

- Verify driver licensing, training, and medical fitness.

- Deliver training: defensive driving, fuel handling, emergency response.

- Monitor driver behavior and performance.



D. Incident Prevention & Reporting

- Lead investigations for accidents, spills, and mechanical failures.

- Conduct RCA and ensure corrective actions.

- Maintain transport KPIs and compliance reporting.



E. Continuous Improvement

- Optimize delivery routes and fleet utilization.

- Review telematics data for unsafe driving behaviors.

- Support digitalization of fleet and maintenance systems.



F. Emergency Preparedness

- Support emergency response plans for road incidents.

- Conduct drills with drivers and depots.

- Ensure readiness of emergency and spill control equipment.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Transport Engineering.

- 5–8+ years experience in fuel transport or hazardous goods logistics.

- Strong knowledge of tanker systems, preventive maintenance, and transport laws.

- Experience with telematics, fleet management systems, and GPS tracking.

- Certifications in defensive driving preferred.

- Strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills.
