1. Position Summary
The BIM Drafter (MEP) is responsible for producing coordinated 3D models and detailed drawings for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in compliance with project BIM standards and design requirements. The role involves close collaboration with engineers, architects, and other disciplines to ensure accurate and clash-free MEP documentation throughout all project stages (SD, DD, TD, IFC, As-Built).
2. Key Responsibilities
- Work on BIM models (LOD 200–400) for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems using Autodesk Revit.
- Prepare detailed drawings, layouts, and sections for HVAC, Fire Fighting, Water Supply, Drainage, and Electrical networks.
- Coordinate models with structural, architectural, and other MEP disciplines to ensure consistency and avoid clashes with the guidance of the BIM Coordinator.
- Update BIM models according to design changes, RFIs, or site coordination feedback.
- Support the implementation of MEP family libraries and parametric components.
- Produce and export sheets, schedules, quantities, and 3D visualizations as required for submissions.
- Ensure compliance with company standards (ISO 19650, AIA LOD, BS1192) and client-specific BIM protocols with the assistance of the BIM Coordinator.
- Maintain accurate model documentation and version control in the Common Data Environment (CDE).
Requirements:1-3 years of experience as a Mechanical Drafter or in a similar drafting role.Proficiency in using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and technical drawing standards.Ability to interpret and create detailed technical drawings from sketches and specifications.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting work.Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineers and project teams.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and best practices related to mechanical drafting.Experience working in an office-based environment.Commitment to maintaining organized and up-to-date documentation. Technical SkillsProficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP and AutoCAD (mandatory).Knowledge of Navisworks Manage basics for clash detection.Understanding of BIM workflows and model coordination.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, design schematics, and construction documents.Experience with Dynamo, BIM 360, or Revit families creation is an advantage.
