- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and related documents to prepare accurate mechanical cost estimates.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents, bills of quantities, and cost breakdowns for mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to gather necessary data for estimation.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and material calculations for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems.
- Solicit and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
- Support the review and assessment of project risks, contingencies, and value engineering opportunities.
- Maintain and update a database of historical cost data, supplier information, and estimation tools.
- Participate in client meetings and site visits to clarify project requirements and gather additional information.
- Assist in post-tender negotiations and provide technical support during project execution as needed.
- Ensure all estimates comply with relevant codes, standards, and company procedures.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.2-4 years of experience in mechanical estimation, cost engineering, or a similar role.Familiarity with mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.Proficiency in estimation software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects.Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry practices.Ability to work effectively in an office-based environment.
