To oversee and manage all welding-related activities and ensure full compliance with projects specifications, international standards (ISO, ASME, AWS), and client requirements. Acts as the technical authority for welding procedures, qualifications, and quality assurance in fabrication
Responsibilities:
- Develop, review, and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) in line with ISO 15614, ASME IX, ISO 3834 or EN 1090 standards.
- Select suitable filler materials, processes, and welding consumables based on metallurgy and service environment.
- Supervise and coordinate welder qualifications per ASME -EN- AWS or equivalent standards.
- Provide technical support in resolving welding issues, defects, or NDT failures during fabrication or erection.
- Collaborate with QA/QC and production to implement welding quality plans.
- Analyze and optimize heat input, preheat, interpass, and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) where required.
- Interface with third-party inspectors and clients for welding inspections and audits.
- Lead root cause analysis for weld defects and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, material specs, and NDT reports.
- Train junior engineers and welders on welding technology, standards, and best practices.
Key Skills & Knowledge:Expertise in welding processes: SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW, TIGHave knowledge of ISO 15614, ISO 3834, EN 1090-1, ASME IX, AWS D1.1Metallurgical understanding of carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, Corten steelStrong analytical and problem-solving skills in welding failure cases Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or MetallurgyCertified Welding Engineer (CWE) or CSWIP or (EWF/IIWExperience:Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in welding engineeringProven record in heavy fabrication, pressure vessels, Pipe ,Tanks ,Platework or Steel structuresExperience in workshop
