Lead Plumbing & Fir Fighting Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake detailed plumbing, Fire Protection and medical gases engineering building services design, cross-checking the results using hand calculations.
  • Prepare technical specifications and schedules, design development reports, and correspondence.
  • Work closely with coordinators and other engineering professionals on a variety of multidisciplinary projects.
  • Take responsibility for the design and delivery of discipline engineering on multiple projects, seeing them through to completion.
  • Develop and establish design criteria for mechanical projects, ensuring alignment with project requirements and standards.
  • Oversee the development of advanced mechanical engineering designs for complex building projects, including plumbing, fire protection, and medical gases (if existing).
  • Ensure designs are functional, sustainable, and meet client requirements.
  • Provide detailed calculations reports and ensure all mechanical designs are technically sound and compliant with industry standards. Using all software, especially CAD and Revit.
  • Review and validate mechanical designs, specifications, and plans to ensure technical accuracy and feasibility. 
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of project designs to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with the design group to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into overall project designs. 
  • Coordinate with the technical group to ensure the feasibility and practicality of design solutions. 
  • Collaborate with Quantity Surveyors (QS) and aspect engineers to ensure accurate and detailed project specifications. 
  • Finalize design packages and coordinate with the technical manager for project implementation. 
  • Attend coordination meetings with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Manage and mentor the mechanical team, providing guidance and support to develop their skills and capabilities.in addition to collaboration in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Ensure timely delivery of project deliverables, maintaining high standards of quality and technical excellence. 
  • Facilitate effective communication, documentation, interpersonal Skills and collaboration among all project team members.
  • Identify opportunities for technical improvement and innovation in project designs and processes.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continually enhance project quality and efficiency.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, including project progress reports, compliance documentation, and design review summaries.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation for all public health systems, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.

Qualification:Master’s degree in mechanical engineering.Professional certification or licensure in Fire Protection engineering is advantageous.Minimum of 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, with significant experience in design development and detailed design.Extensive experience working on mega projects and complex projects, including high-rise buildings, healthcare facilities, and hotels.Skills:Significant experience gained within an engineering consultancy.Proven track record of project design from concept to detailed stages.Ability to review and make small amendments within AutoCAD and Revit.Fully conversant with Microsoft Office and public health calculation software packages.Working knowledge and understanding of American, British, European, and international standards.Well-practiced communication skills.Confident and proactive approach to problem-solving.Fluency in English language is advantageous.
