Structural Technical Office Engineer

  • Review and assess shop drawings submitted by contractors for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications and design documents 
  • Ensure that shop drawings reflect the correct design intent and coordinate with other disciplines to address potential conflicts or discrepancies.
  • Identify and highlight any discrepancies or errors in shop drawings and work with contractors to resolve them promptly.
  • Coordinate with the design team (architectural, structural, MEP, etc.) to ensure that any changes or clarifications to the design are reflected in the shop drawings.
  • Collaborate with contractors and subcontractors to clarify any design or drawing issues, ensuring smooth coordination between the technical office and construction teams.
  • Assist in resolving technical queries and provide guidance on design modifications or adjustments required for the shop drawings.
  • Maintain accurate records of all shop drawings reviewed, including comments, approvals, and re-submittals.
  • Prepare reports summarizing the status of shop drawing reviews, highlighting issues, approvals, and any pending actions.
  • Ensure that all shop drawings are appropriately logged and tracked, and follow up on any overdue or pending submissions.
  • Ensure that shop drawings comply with relevant standards, local regulations, and client requirements.
  • Check that all materials and components specified in the shop drawings meet quality standards and project specifications.
  • Monitor that the contractor adheres to the approved materials, design criteria, and construction methods.
  • Provide technical feedback to contractors on rejected or revised shop drawings, ensuring that necessary corrections are made and resubmitted for approval.
  • Follow up on re-submittals to ensure that issues are properly addressed before final approval.
  • Approve or recommend approval of shop drawings, ensuring that all conditions are met before allowing construction to proceed.
  • Provide technical support to the project manager, contractor, and other team members regarding design details and specifications.
  • Address technical issues that arise during the shop drawing review process, proposing practical solutions that align with the original design intent.
  • Occasionally visit the construction site to observe the installation and ensure that work aligns with approved shop drawings.
  • Provide support in addressing any site-related issues and assist in resolving discrepancies between the shop drawings and actual site conditions.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural EngineeringMinimum of 7 years of experienceProficiency in AutoCAD, and other design software; knowledge of construction processes and shop drawing standards.Familiarity with building codes and local regulations,
