GENERAL PRACTICES AND TASKS
1Operate Lab. Machines with professional operating practices and ensure daily maintenance of machines and equipment 
2Load patient’s specimens and the correct reagent with the accurate quantity to ensure results’ accuracy 
3Prepare and run QC processes to detect, reduce, and correct deficiencies in laboratory's internal analytical process prior to the release of patient results
4Archive and document the daily QC results and maintenance files
5Prepare the Stains and slides for hematology chemists
6Write and record the results of manually performed tests
SPECIFIC TASKS FOR : (Histopathology chemist)
1Prepare the histopathology stains and receive the requested samples for investigation
2Embed the received tissue samples at paraffin wax and initiate the fixation and dehydration of the tested tissues
3Cut the examined tissue to thin sections known as “Microtomy” by Microtome 
4Stain the tissue to highlight important features as well as to enhance the tissue contrast by the specific dyes 
5Ensure good storage practices for slides and paraffin blocks and write the concluded results 
SPECIFIC TASKS FOR : (Microbiology chemist)
1Analyze the requested samples “urine”,  “stool” or “semen”
2Prepare the specific stains and cultures media for
3Perform culturing , biochemical reactions and sensitivity tests comply with examined sample
4Ensure Quality Control, Assurance and Archiving  of Lab. Materials, media , Antibiotics and stained films
5Perform Serology tests for examined blood serum to investigate the response of the immune system to pathogens or introduced substances, then write and record the concluded  results
SPECIFIC TASKS FOR : (Blood Bank Chemist)
1Demonstrate advanced technical competencies in performing ABO, RH. cross matching and coombs test & Blood Donation
2Supervise on procurement of blood component and ensure its compliance and quality 
3supervise on storage of blood component and ensure its compliance and quality 
4Demonstrate advanced competencies in blood related practices and procedures  like dispensing, donation and blood components separation
SPECIFIC TASKS FOR : (Phlebotomist)
1Collect samples from outpatient and ensure proper sample identification
SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR: ( Processing unit )
1Receive samples from phlebotomists and inpatient units nurses
2Performs sample centrifugation and supervision on its distribution to units
3Apply acceptance and rejection criteria for examined samples
4Write and record the rejected samples on its log book and informing responsible for recollect
5Supervise on outsourcing samples from sending, following up to reporting of results
SUB TASKS
1Comply with hospital general rules, policies and instructions
2Comply with IPC guidelines, Dress Code, Personal Hygiene and Punctuality system
3Comply with best laboratory practices and standard operating procedures 

 

 


Qualifications & Requirements Educational RequirementsBachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from a reputable universityDiploma in Biochemistry from certified university from MOHExperience Requirements1 - 3  years as Laboratory Chemist from a reputable health care facility.Knowledge, Skills and AttitudeWith broad knowledge in theories and practices of specialization included but not limited to rules and regulations governing Laboratory management. Expertise in good dealing with clients and colleagues.Must have integrity, initiative, evidence of good health and grooming, good moral character and right conduct, strong and pleasing personality
