MEP Engineering Manager

Scope of position:

MEP Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of MEP systems for projects, from design through to installation and commissioning. This role ensures that MEP systems meet project requirements and are completed on time, within budget, to the highest quality standards and involves comprehensive planning, resource allocation, and supervision of MEP activities, ensuring seamless integration with other construction elements.

The role coordinates with various departments, stakeholders, and external contractors to deliver efficient, compliant building systems that meet regulatory standards and client expectations. 

Job description: 

  1. Project Planning and Management
    • Lead and manage all MEP project activities, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
    • Coordinate with the project team to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems with other construction elements.
    • Develop MEP project plans and allocate resources effectively.
  2. Design and Technical Oversight
    • Review MEP designs and drawings to confirm compliance with project specifications and requirements.
    • Oversee the design, review, and modification of MEP systems, providing technical guidance to ensure standards and quality.
    • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate MEP systems into the overall design.
  3. Quality Control and Compliance
    • Ensure all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems meet regulatory codes, safety standards, and client expectations.
    • Conduct site inspections and assessments to identify and resolve potential issues with MEP installations.
    • Maintain compliance documentation and assist with audits and inspections as required.
  4. Team Leadership and Coordination
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the MEP engineering team, setting clear goals and expectations.
    • Manage MEP subcontractors, ensuring adherence to quality, timelines, and budget constraints.
    • Lead regular meetings with project teams, contractors, and consultants to review progress and address any issues.
  5. Resource and Budget Management
    • Oversee the procurement of MEP materials and equipment, ensuring specifications and quality standards are met.
    • Develop and monitor MEP budgets, minimizing costs while maintaining quality.
    • Provide cost analysis, control reports, and forecasts for MEP work packages.
    • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to optimize costs.
  6.  Stakeholder Communication
    • Communicate with clients and stakeholders to report project status, changes, and any challenges encountered.
    • Prepare regular project reports, including updates on progress, budget, and quality.
    • Ensure proper documentation and archiving of all project-related MEP documents and approvals.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering field.Minimum of 15 years’ experience in MEP design, construction, or project management; 15+ years preferred.Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and machinery systems, including design, installation, and commissioning. Skilled in developing project plans, schedules, and budgets, with the ability to monitor progress and manage resources effectively.Familiar with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance requirements.Knowledgeable in implementing quality assurance and control processes and maintaining a safe work environment.Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot engineering issues, address project delays, and devise effective solutions.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, stakeholders, and team members.Proactive in identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks related to engineering, budget, and schedule.
