Scope of position:
Civil Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing all civil engineering aspects of construction projects from initial planning and design through to project completion and accountable for delivering projects on time within budget, addressing engineering challenges, and maintaining strong communication with stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
This role involves managing project teams, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

- Project Planning and Scheduling:
- Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of civil engineering activities for projects.
- Develop detailed project plans, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely completion.
- Identify potential project risks, such as environmental and site conditions, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Design and Compliance:
- Ensure that civil engineering designs are in line with project specifications, requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Oversee the testing and validation of civil engineering works, including soil, concrete, and structural tests.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to verify that construction works align with design plans and specifications.
- Team Management and Collaboration:
- Manage and oversee the work of civil engineers, site supervisors, and other team members.
- Facilitate effective collaboration between design, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project alignment.
- Conduct regular project meetings to assess progress, address issues, and keep all stakeholders informed.
- Quality Control and Safety:
- Ensure all construction activities meet safety and quality standards, as well as local and national building codes.
- Maintain a proactive approach to solving engineering and construction challenges.
- Address unexpected issues or delays by coordinating with relevant departments to implement solutions.
- Budget and Financial Oversight:
- Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Evaluate and approve requests for materials, equipment, and resources.
- Provide regular cost reports and forecasts to ensure financial oversight and control.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, PMP certification or master’s degree preferred.Minimum of 15 years in construction or project management, with a focus on civil engineering, and at least 3 years in managerial role.Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).Skilled in developing project plans, schedules, and budgets, with the ability to monitor progress and manage resources effectively.Familiar with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance requirements.Knowledgeable in implementing quality assurance and control processes and maintaining a safe work environment.Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot engineering issues, address project delays, and devise effective solutions.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, stakeholders, and team members.Proactive in identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks related to engineering, budget, and schedule.
