The Investments Accountant plays a crucial role in managing and optimizing our investment operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. This position is responsible for reconciling investment transactions, preparing detailed reports for stakeholders, and maintaining the integrity of financial data. By collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and overseeing the operations team, the Investments Accountant will drive efficiency and contribute to the overall success of the organization’s investment strategies. Key Responsibilities:
Investment Operations:
- Confirm and reconcile investment transactions with bank statements and brokerage firms.
- Record investment transactions accurately on Investment and Financial systems.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Prepare and communicate detailed monthly investment reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare Designation calculations for submission to the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA).
- Generate FRA reports, including registers and disclosures, on a quarterly basis.
- Ensure timely submission of audit disclosures and reports.
Financial Processing and Reporting:
- Prepare related accounting entries.
- Analyze related Accounts on both Financial and technical Investment systems.
- Prepare all reports on Investments whether statutory, to the Group or FFH.
- Understands different accounting treatments for investments accounting and reporting, can explain the differences in details per each type of investments based on local or international standards.
Operational Management:
- Manage day-to-day operations, optimizing processes for maximum efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
- Assist in implementing new processes and procedures.
- Oversee the operations team, assign tasks, and resolve complex issues within and across departments.
Communication and Documentation:
- Interact with external and internal customers, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Track and report on operational performance.
- Maintain policy and procedure documents related to investment operations.
Skills and Experience:Education:Bachelor’s degree in accounting (IFRS Diploma is an asset).Experience:6-9 years of experience in Back Office investment operations within the insurance or big 4 audit firms.Analytical Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.Time Management:Ability to manage and meet deadlines, work efficiently under pressure, and prioritize tasks effectively.Communication and Interpersonal Skills:Excellent team-working, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
