Position Overview:
We are seeking a technically proficient Senior Quality Control (QC) Engineer specializing in subsea equipment fabrication. This role requires advanced knowledge of welding inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT), and quality assurance processes. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and compliance of subsea equipment by leveraging cutting-edge inspection and testing methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welding Inspection: Conduct advanced visual, dimensional, and volumetric welding inspections in compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASME, AWS). Interpret complex welding procedure specifications (WPS) and ensure that weld quality aligns with project requirements.
- NDT Execution and Analysis: Perform and oversee NDT inspections using Level 2 proficiency across five methods (UT, MT, RT, PT, ET). Ensure adherence to NDT standards (ISO 9712, ASNT SNT-TC-1A), interpret results accurately, and verify data integrity in complex fabrication environments.
- Documentation and Compliance: Develop and maintain detailed inspection records, including weld maps, inspection reports, and NDT records. Ensure traceability and compliance with ISO standards, generating documentation that meets client and regulatory requirements.
- Process Optimization: Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate and optimize welding and NDT processes. Utilize inspection data to identify trends, reduce defect rates, and enhance the reliability of quality control procedures.
- Client Interaction and Audit Support: Communicate with clients and third-party inspectors regarding quality matters. Support audits and quality reviews to ensure compliance with rigorous industry standards.
Technical Reporting: Utilize Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint) and Teams for data analysis, technical presentations, and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering, or a related discipline.Certification: CSWIP 3.1 or CWI certification; Level 2 NDT certification across five methods.Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a QC welding and NDT inspector in subsea equipment fabrication, with a deep understanding of industry standards (DNV, API, ISO).Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and Teams, with fluent written and spoken English. Preferred Technical Skills:Advanced Data Analysis: Proficient in Excel for statistical quality control, trend analysis, and defect tracking to support quality improvement initiatives.Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Skilled in RCA techniques, such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), to systematically address quality issues.Advanced NDT Techniques: Extensive hands-on experience with advanced NDT techniques, including phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) and computed radiography (CR).Quality Management Systems (QMS): Familiarity with ISO 9001 QMS standards, with the ability to implement and audit quality processes in a regulated environment.Industry Standards Expertise: Deep knowledge of ASME IX, API 1104, and ISO 14731, with the ability to interpret and apply these codes to complex fabrication scenarios.Project Management Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, utilizing project management tools for quality assurance activities.
