Job Overview:
The Planning Engineer will be responsible for project planning, scheduling, and progress monitoring to support the successful execution and timely delivery of projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met within budget and scope.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Scheduling & Development:
Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent software.
Prepare work breakdown structures (WBS), define activities, and assign resources.
Integrate subcontractor and supplier schedules into master project schedules.
Progress Tracking & Analysis:
Track project milestones and provide updates on the progress of key deliverables.
Analyze schedule performance using earned value management (EVM) and other methodologies.
Identify schedule deviations and recommend recovery plans to keep projects on track.
Resource Allocation & Management:
Analyze and forecast project resource requirements, including manpower, equipment, and materials.
Coordinate with project teams to optimize resource utilization and reduce idle time.
Risk & Impact Assessment:
Identify and evaluate potential scheduling risks and issues that could impact project delivery.
Develop risk mitigation plans and schedule impact assessments for project changes.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare weekly and monthly reports for senior management, highlighting project status, schedule performance, and key risk areas.
Maintain detailed project records and ensure all scheduling changes are documented and approved.
Coordination & Communication:
Communicate schedule updates and changes effectively to project managers, site teams, and other stakeholders.
Participate in project meetings and provide inputs on scheduling, resource allocation, and project progress.
Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related field).Minimum 3-5 years of experience in project planning and scheduling.Proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.Understanding of project management principles and methodologies.Experience in construction, infrastructure, or oil & gas industries preferred.Key Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.Certifications (Preferred):PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification.Professional certification in Primavera P6 or related software is a plus.
