Program Officer, The Public Policy Hub, Grant Position

Reports to: Principal Investigator (PI)

Purpose: The holder of this position will support the Project Principal Investigator (PI) in managing the Public Policy Hub project. The Public Policy Hub is a processing unit where policy teams are formed on a regular basis, combining experienced policy scholars or mentors with young creative policy analysts, provide them with the needed resources, training, exposure, space, tools, networks, knowledge and contacts to enable them to come up with sound, rigorous and yet creative policy solutions that have a greater potential to be effectively advocated and communicated to the relevant policy makers and to the general public.


Responsibilities:

● Manage Hub's policy research production process including communication with the research team, data collection, paper editing and translating, and printing process

● Responsible for HUB's training management activities including participant's selection, recruiting instructors, training design, training logistics and training evaluation

● Build and maintain relationships with related stakeholders of governmental institutions, private

sector and non-profitable organizations

● Manage Hub events logistics including annual conferences, research seminars and policy discussion events

● Responsible for all Hub daily administrative activities and logistics management, communicating with The American University in Cairo admin and finance units, determining fees and terms of contract

● Responsible for monitoring and evaluating activities for effectiveness to develop improved

methods, devising evaluation methodology and implementing, analyzing results, recommending or taking appropriate action

● Prepare periodic technical reports on Hub activities, progress, status or other special reports for management

● Supervise service providers, interns and volunteers in their assigned tasks if applicable

● Support in designing and developing new activities relating to Hub research and policy

development

● Assist in budgets preparation, tracking and financial reporting

● Support in the preparation of proposals for funding of new or continuous projects

● Assist in outreach activities and promotional literature for distribution such as website, newsletter, brochures or flyers, and coordinate printing and distribution

● Perform other duties as assigned


Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirements:

● Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

● Master’s in public policy or public administration is preferred


Experience:

● A minimum of seven to nine years of relevant experience, including at least five years with a

supervisory role

● Experience in budget preparation and reporting


Skills:

● Knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles

● Knowledge of organizational practices

● Strong leadership skills

● Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic

● Excellent organization skills

● Ability to prioritize work and activities of self and others

● Expert user of MS Office, Internet, and others

● Previous experience of SAP is a plus
