Overview:

The Head of Mathematics Department is responsible for leading and managing the mathematics curriculum and instruction at IVY STEM International Schools. This role involves fostering a positive learning environment, promoting innovative teaching practices, and ensuring that all students achieve their full potential in mathematics. The Head of Department will collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to enhance the overall educational experience and outcomes for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Instructional Leadership:
  • Provide guidance and support to mathematics teachers in instructional strategies, assessment practices, and classroom management.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and professional development among mathematics faculty.
  1. Assessment and Evaluation:
  • Develop and implement assessment tools to measure student progress and achievement in mathematics.
  • Analyze student performance data to inform instructional practices and curriculum adjustments.
  1. Professional Development:
  • Organize and facilitate professional development opportunities for mathematics teachers to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Stay current with educational research and best practices in mathematics education.
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with other department heads and school leadership to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and the school community regarding mathematics programs and student progress.
  1. Resource Management:
  • Manage the mathematics department budget and resources, including textbooks, technology, and instructional materials.
  • Identify and implement innovative resources and tools to enhance mathematics instruction.
  1. Student Support:
  • Provide support and guidance to students struggling with mathematics, including intervention strategies and enrichment opportunities.
  • Promote a positive attitude towards mathematics and encourage student engagement in the subject.

 


Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).Teaching certification in Mathematics.Proven experience in teaching mathematics at the secondary level.Previous leadership experience in an educational setting is highly desirable.Strong understanding of current trends and best practices in mathematics education.Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
