Reports to: Senior Director, Payroll
Purpose: The jobholder manages various activities for payroll to maintain major operations in accordance with the strategic goals and objectives of The American University in Cairo (AUC) and the Office of the Financial Accounting. The jobholder assures that all payroll payments are accurate and paid on time in light of Egyptian and US regulations
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for processing teaching assistants’ monthly compensations and payments
- Responsible for giving out fellowship payments
- Processing monthly payroll actions received from management and operations teams
- Paying to EMBA instructors received from school of business
- Responsible for revising, settling and reissuing rejected monthly salaries in collaboration with treasury office
- Revising and processing CLT instructors’ payments
- Revising and processing CASA monthly payments
- Responsible for processing research assistants’ compensations in collaboration with graduate admission office
- Paying Kamal Adham Center payments
- Coordinate with Office of Human Resources to calculate and process compensation for leavers
- Issuing group life insurance payments in collaboration with HR and Provost Office
- Coordinate with Legal Office and HR office to issue salaries breakdown letters
- Prepare monthly alimony actions received from AUC Legal department
- Proactively implement ways to improve the financial process through analyzing monthly financial transactions and identify key variances in order to flag incorrect transactions to avoid it in next month
- Maintain and enhance business processes and partnership with University deans’ offices
- Review and respond to HR queries regarding various actions
- Process reconciliation for various G/L accounts through preparing journal entries, and accounting transactions that need corrections on the SAP for related to processed payments
- Extract different reports from the system to provide all required details
- Perform other related duties as requested from direct supervisor
Requirements:
Minimum Education Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
● Master's degree is preferable
Experience
● Minimum of 8 years’ experience in payroll accounting including a minimum of two years of managerial responsibilities
● Minimum of 5 years of income tax reconciliation
Skills:
- Strong accounting skills
- Strong computer skills
- Effective communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Very Good command of English language
- Experience of SAP Payroll system
- Knowledge of SAP Finance module
- Knowledge of income tax calculations and tax law
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
