- Read given material and research industry-specific terminology
- Convert text and audio recordings from one language to one or more others
- Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone
- Prepare subtitles for videos and online presentations
- Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation
- Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy
- Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure translation meets their needs
- Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure)
- Network with field experts to stay current on new translation tools and practices
Key Responsibilities:Document Translation: Translate technical documents, manuals, reports, and other written materials from Chinese to English and vice versa.Verbal Interpretation: Provide real-time interpretation during meetings, conferences, and on-site visits between Chinese-speaking and English-speaking employees.Cultural Mediation: Facilitate communication by understanding cultural differences and ensuring that all parties comprehend the context and intent of the communications.Support Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with different departments such as engineering, operations, and management to ensure clear communication across all levels.Assist in Negotiations: Support the company during negotiations with Chinese-speaking partners or clients by providing accurate and nuanced translation services.Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy and clarity of all translated materials, maintaining a high standard of communication.Qualifications:Languages:Chinese: Fluent in both spoken and written Chinese.English: Strong command of English, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.HSK+5Experience:Steel Industry: Previous experience in the steel industry or a related field is preferred.Translation/Interpretation: Proven experience as a translator or interpreter, preferably within an industrial or technical environment.Education: A degree or certification in translation, language studies, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory with sufficient experience.Skills:Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese and English.Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to new environments and work effectively under pressure.Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in translation and interpretation.Cultural Awareness: Deep understanding of cultural nuances between Chinese and Arabic-speaking regions to facilitate effective communication.
