Job Summary:
As a Junior Technical Designer, you will play an integral role in supporting the technical design team in translating design concepts into practical and functional solutions. You will assist in the development of detailed technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Design Support:
Collaborate with the technical design team to understand design concepts, project requirements, and technical specifications.
Assist in the development of detailed technical drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Conduct research on materials, finishes, and construction techniques to support informed decision-making and adherence to design intent.
Assist in the preparation and organization of design documentation, including specifications, schedules, and material sample boards.
Coordination and Collaboration:
Collaborate with internal teams, including architects, engineers, and senior technical designers, to ensure coordination and alignment of technical design aspects.
Participate in project meetings and assist in documenting meeting minutes, action items, and design revisions.
Support the coordination of design information and documentation between internal teams and external consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
Assist in the procurement process by sourcing materials, finishes, and fixtures in collaboration with the procurement team.
Quality Assurance and Documentation:
Assist in reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design intent and industry standards.
Support the identification and resolution of technical design challenges by providing recommendations and solutions.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including redlined drawings, design revisions, and design change orders.
Assist in conducting on-site inspections, as directed, to verify compliance with technical design specifications and address any deviations.
Design Standards and Best Practices:
Learn and adhere to established design standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality in technical design processes.
Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in technical design, and share knowledge with the team.
Support the implementation of process improvements, standardization, and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy in technical design workflows.
Bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, or a related field. Relevant coursework or internships in technical design or construction management are advantageous.Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.Basic knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to architectural and interior design.Strong attention to detail, with the ability to accurately interpret and execute design concepts.Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude, with a willingness to take on new challenges and learn from senior team members.Familiarity with materials, finishes, and construction techniques is desirable.Knowledge of sustainable design principles and practices is a plus.
