Tender Senior Engineer

Job Summary:

The Senior Tender Engineer will be responsible for leading and coordinating the preparation and submission of tenders. This includes analyzing the requirements, developing comprehensive bid strategies, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality proposals. The role demands a strong understanding of engineering principles, project management, and commercial terms.

Key Responsibilities:

Tender Preparation and Submission:

  • Analyze tender documents, specifications, and requirements to develop bid strategies.
  • Coordinate with various departments (engineering, procurement, finance, legal) to gather necessary information for tender submissions.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and pricing structures.
  • Develop and compile technical and commercial proposals, ensuring compliance with client requirements and company standards.
  • Ensure timely submission of tenders, adhering to deadlines and internal review processes.

Project Coordination:

  • Liaise with project teams to understand project scopes and deliverables.
  • Manage the tender process from receipt of inquiry to final submission, including post-tender clarifications and negotiations.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotations and incorporate them into the tender.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with tenders and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure that all tender documents address safety, quality, and environmental requirements.

Client Interaction:

  • Engage with clients to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings, site visits, and presentations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Review and analyze tender outcomes and feedback to identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities.

Team Leadership:

  • Mentor and guide junior tender engineers and support staff.
  • Promote a collaborative and proactive team environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in tendering, project management, or a related role within the engineering, construction, or energy sectors.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction methods, and project management.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with the ability to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Proficient in using tendering software and MS Office applications.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
  • Professional certification (e.g., PMP, PMI-SP) is an advantage.
  • Experience in international projects 

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based with occasional travel to client sites, project locations, and meetings.
  • May require extended working hours during peak tender periods.
