⸻
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Production Manager with deep technical expertise in phosphated drywall screw manufacturing to lead and optimize our end-to-end production operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on knowledge of wire preparation, cold heading, thread rolling, heat treatment, phosphating, and final inspection, ensuring consistent quality, high productivity, and cost efficiency.
This role is critical in scaling production, stabilizing quality, reducing scrap, and achieving international standards (DIN / ISO / ASTM).
⸻
Key Responsibilities
1. Production & Operations Management • Plan, organize, and control daily production of phosphated drywall screws (fine thread / coarse thread). • Ensure smooth workflow across: • Wire drawing / preparation • Cold heading • Thread rolling • Heat treatment (quenching & tempering) • Phosphating & drying • Sorting, packing, and storage • Achieve monthly production targets (tons / pieces) with minimum downtime.
⸻
2. Phosphating Process Control (Critical Role) • Manage and optimize black phosphate coating parameters: • Chemical concentration • Bath temperature & p H • Immersion time • Rinsing & drying methods • Ensure coating: • Uniform color (deep black) • Strong adhesion • Oil absorption capability • Corrosion resistance • Reduce common phosphating defects: • Red rust • Patchy coating • White powder residue • Peeling or weak adhesion
⸻
3. Quality Assurance & Standards • Implement and enforce QC checkpoints at each production stage. • Ensure screws meet: • Dimensional tolerances • Head strength • Core hardness • Case hardness • Torsion & bending requirements • Coordinate mechanical testing: • Torque test • Drill speed test • Salt spray test (when required) • Ensure compliance with DIN 18182 / ISO 7050 / ASTM C1002 standards.
⸻
4. Machine & Process Optimization • Supervise operation and setup of: • Cold heading machines • Thread rolling machines • Mesh belt furnace • Phosphating lines • Improve: • Tool life • Machine cycle time • Changeover efficiency • Coordinate preventive maintenance with engineering teams.
⸻
5. Raw Material & Consumables Control • Work with procurement to select suitable: • Low-carbon steel wire (e.g. SAE 1022) • Phosphating chemicals • Oils & lubricants • Monitor material usage and reduce: • Wire wastage • Chemical overconsumption • Rejection rates
⸻
6. Team Leadership & Training • Lead and supervise: • Machine operators • Line supervisors • QC inspectors • Train teams on: • Phosphating best practices • Process discipline • Safety procedures • Build a production culture focused on quality, efficiency, and accountability.
⸻
7. Safety, Environment & Compliance • Ensure compliance with: • Factory safety regulations • Chemical handling procedures • Wastewater treatment requirements (phosphating line) • Implement proper PPE and safe working conditions.
⸻
8. Reporting & Continuous Improvement • Prepare daily and monthly reports covering: • Production output • Downtime • Scrap & rejection rates • Chemical consumption • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to: • Increase yield • Reduce cost per ton • Improve export readiness
⸻
Required Qualifications
Education • Bachelor’s degree in: • Mechanical Engineering • Industrial Engineering • Or relevant technical field
⸻
Experience • 10-15+ years in fastener manufacturing • Minimum 7 years specifically in phosphated drywall screw production • Proven hands-on experience with black phosphate coating systems
⸻
Technical Skills • Strong knowledge of: • Screw metallurgy & heat treatment • Phosphate chemistry • DIN / ISO fastener standards • Ability to troubleshoot: • Coating defects • Heat treatment issues • Mechanical failures • Familiar with Chinese and European production lines.
