Country Accountant – Egypt Reports to: Finance Director

Position Overview As Country Accountant, you will be the finance leader for our Egyptian entity, responsible for all accounting, finance, and administrative activities. This is not just a bookkeeping role, it’s a strategic position where you will own the financial health of the business, ensure compliance with IFRS, Egyptian Accounting Standards, and Group policies. You will work closely with the local team, external advisors (accounting and tax), and the Head Office Finance team to deliver accurate reporting, robust compliance, and efficient processes. This is a new role in a growing organization, offering you the chance to build systems from the ground up, implement an ERP.
Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Commerce (CPA, ACCA, CMA preferred)5+ years of accounting experience (engineering, construction, or consulting firms preferred) Strong knowledge of Egyptian tax laws, IFRS, and VATProficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle, Odoo, Quick Books) Advanced Excel skills and ability to handle complex data Good understanding of project-based accounting and cost control
Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting & Reporting Maintain accurate accounting records in IFRS and Egyptian regulations, aligned with Group policies Record daily financial transactions, journal entries, and general ledger postings Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for local and Group reporting Liaise with auditors and manage year-end audits Reconcile bank accounts, suppliers, clients, and inter-company accounts Manage petty cash and ensure proper documentation Coordinate with Head Office Finance team on daily operations and fund requirements Participate in the implementation of an ERP system to streamline processes and improve efficiency Taxation & Compliance Prepare and submit VAT returns, Withholding Tax, Payroll Tax, and Income Tax filings with the support of tax advisors Ensure full compliance with Egyptian Tax Authority regulations Coordinate with tax consultants and support tax audits Maintain proper documentation for tax and statutory purposes Accounts Payable & Receivable Process supplier invoices, subcontractor payments, and expense claims Monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding payments to ensure healthy cash flow Maintain accurate aging reports and support collection efforts Payroll & Administrative Support Assist our payroll advisor in payroll calculations, social insurance, and related deductions Maintain employee financial records and benefits documentation Oversee all administrative tasks and ensure perfect archiving of documentation Post payroll-related accounting entries accurately and on time Time Sheet & Reporting Ensure all employees post their time sheets according to Group policy Drive necessary analysis and reporting for management decision-making Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports with actionable insights for leadership
