Job Profile A Cost Control Section Head leads the team that manages project budgets, analyzes costs, identifies variances, and develops strategies to optimize spending, ensuring financial goals are met through detailed reporting, forecasting, budget administration, and collaboration with project and finance teams, often involving supervision of junior staff and system development.
Key Responsibilities Budget & Forecasting: Develop, manage, and monitor project/department budgets, cash flows, and financial forecasts, working with finance teams and operations. Cost Analysis & Reporting: Analyze actual costs vs. planned costs, investigate variances, and prepare regular financial reports (weekly, monthly, ad-hoc) for management. Cost Control Systems: Develop, implement, and maintain cost control systems, procedures, and accounting records. Project Support: Provide cost engineering expertise, review project invoices/change orders, and support project teams in resolving cost-related issues. Strategy & Optimization: Identify cost-saving opportunities, recommend solutions, and implement strategies to improve financial performance and resource allocation. Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and train junior cost control engineers and staff. Compliance: Ensure all cost activities comply with company policies and standards.
Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or any other relevant qualifications(5-7) years of Exp. in financial analysis, budgeting, and cost estimation Proficient in the use of project management software and financial tools Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and analytical skills Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities
