Role Description The Plant Manager is fully accountable for the overall management, operation, and performance of large-scale water desalination plants with production capacities exceeding 500,000 m³/day. The role requires strong executive leadership to ensure operational excellence, asset reliability, cost optimization, regulatory compliance, and sustainable performance while leading large, multidisciplinary teams in complex, high-demand environments.
Provide full strategic and operational leadership for mega-scale desalination plants, ensuring safe, reliable, and continuous production in line with corporate objectives. Exercise overall technical authority on high-capacity desalination systems, driving performance optimization and resolving complex operational and technical issues. Lead asset management and maintenance strategies in accordance with international best practices to maximize equipment lifecycle and minimize downtime and OPEX. Ensure full compliance with HSEQ requirements while maintaining ISO-certified management systems and consistent water quality standards. Lead and develop large, multicultural operations and engineering teams, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement. Manage multi-million-dollar operating budgets, optimize energy and chemical consumption, and oversee O&M contracts and key commercial relationships. Act as the main interface with stakeholders and authorities, lead crisis management, and deliver executive-level reporting supported by digital and data-driven systems
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Water Engineering, or equivalent).10–15 years of progressive experience in water desalination operations. Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role managing mega-scale desalination plants (>500,000 m³/day). Proven expertise in large seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) facilities. Strong experience in EPC, commissioning, and long-term O&M contracts.
