The fleet operations supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and utilization of the company's vehicle fleet. This includes managing driver schedules, dispatching vehicles, and monitoring fleet productivity to ensure maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The supervisor works closely with drivers and maintenance staff to optimize the performance and utilization of all fleet assets.
Key Responsibilities: -
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to maximize the utilization of drivers and vehicles within the fleet.
- Schedule and dispatch vehicles and drivers in a way that meets the company's transportation needs while minimizing downtime and idle time.
- Monitor real-time vehicle and driver data (e.g. location, route, hours of service) to identify opportunities to improve asset utilization.
- Analyze historical fleet data to forecast future transportation requirements and optimize staffing and vehicle allocations.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure vehicles are serviced and available when needed, minimizing disruptions to transportation schedules.
- Provide drivers with clear instructions and support to complete their routes and tasks efficiently.
- Monitor driver performance and provide coaching to improve productivity and safety.
