Position Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic, collaborative individual with project management skills, a development attitude, and an interest in disability inclusion in higher education to support the establishment of a central disability center at each of seven public universities (Aswan, Minya, Banha, Menoufia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Port Said, and Matrouh). This exciting program changes perceptions of disability and increases opportunities for university students with disabilities. The Disability Specialist will follow the model established with the pilot universities, coordinating with center managers and staff to follow the work plan and timeline. Activities include attendance of trainings on disability and management with center staff, monitoring of university activities and deliverables and providing feedback and coaching as needed. The Specialist will follow up on creation and documentation of required program documents and implementation of activities to achieve project objectives. The Specialist will report to the HEI Program Disability Manager. The project will end in March 2025.
Responsibilities
- Follow up on the establishment and development of disability centers at the seven public universities
- Support Disability Manager on the screening and hiring of trainers
- Communicate and coordinate with the trainers and center teams on logistics for all the planned activities
- Attend trainings, monitor activity implementation, advise and support trainers, review performance, provide feedback to Disability Manager, and document achievement of training objectives
- Share monthly reports with the disability manager, suggest approaches to support the implementation of the activities and monitor the progress of the seven centers
- Collect data and maintain documentation of all project activities
- Prepare all required reports
- Visit universities and training locations to build relationships with university disability staff, and monitor project activities. Regular travel will be required
Required
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, well-recognized university, ideally in a relevant field such as education or international development.
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, ideally with development projects and in cooperation with governmental institutions
- Strong people management and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Fluent in English and Arabic, with exceptional communication skills
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Egyptian citizenship
Preferred
- Experience or knowledge in the disability social model
- Experience working with governmental institutions in Egypt
- Master’s degree from an accredited, well-renowned university in a relevant field such as education or international development
- Experience working on USAID projects focused on education or training
