We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Team Leader to lead and manage our accounting department in an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company specializing in water and wastewater treatment. The ideal candidate will oversee all financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide accurate financial reporting. The role requires a proactive leader who can drive the financial health of our projects and support strategic decision-making with reliable and timely insights on cash flow, income statements, balance sheets, and other critical financial metrics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting Operations & Financial Management
• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
• Ensure the timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Manage fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and account reconciliations.
• Monitor project costs and budgets, tracking actuals vs. projections, and reporting any discrepancies.
2. Financial Reporting
• Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Develop and manage financial dashboards to provide senior management with up-to-date insights on financial performance.
• Prepare and present cash flow forecasts, monitoring liquidity to support project execution and company operations.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting for all internal and external stakeholders, including project and department-level performance reports.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting
• Collaborate with project managers and department heads to develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts.
• Track and report on budget variances, providing actionable insights to project teams and senior management.
• Implement financial models and tools to enhance accuracy in forecasting revenue, expenses, and cash flow.
4. Compliance & Audit
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits, ensuring all audit requirements are met and addressing any findings.
• Oversee and ensure compliance with tax requirements, including VAT, income tax, and other relevant filings.
5. Team Leadership & Development
• Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team, promoting professional growth and continuous improvement.
• Establish and maintain best practices and standard operating procedures for all accounting functions.
• Foster a collaborative work environment with project teams, providing financial insights and support to meet project goals.
6. Systems & Process Improvement
• Evaluate and implement financial systems and tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities.
• Lead initiatives to streamline accounting workflows and reduce manual processes.
• Ensure proper internal controls are in place to mitigate risks and protect company assets.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred. • 7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a management role, preferably in an EPC or construction-related industry. • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills. • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with a proven ability to provide actionable insights to management. • Demonstrated experience managing teams and fostering a positive work environment.
