Financial Analyst

Job Purpose

To Consolidate, analyze, and prepare periodical financial reports for the Construction Group. to ensure accurate presentation of the financial information to the top management highlighting key performance indicators and analyzing variances against budget.

Responsibilities

• Process income received journals, ensuring these correctly reflect the income recorded in the database

• Prepare month end accruals and prepayment journals and fill of financial statements’ footnotes.

• Perform monthly management accounts to ensure accounts reconcile to nominal ledger

• Handle Balance Sheet and cash flow statement as required.

• Undertake forecast variance analysis reporting, and operational metrics tracking at agreed intervals during the year with budget holders.

• Enhance productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools.

• Analyze key issues, risks & opportunities on monthly basis, identify any irregularities and bring them to the attention of operational managers.

• Compare data received from project sites and cost control with the financial records and ensure any variances are explained and understood.

• Perform specialized financial reports including AR Aging and cash-flow analysis etc.

• Handle the planning and budgeting process.

• Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts • Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and Excel dashboards.

• Perform market research, data mining, business intelligence, and valuation comps.

• Assist the financial manager in conducting reviews with different business units, act as a business partner to ensure the business units have all the help they need.

• Assist the financial manager in preparing the annual budget for the construction group and provide analysis which will help keep variances against budget under control in the next financial year.

• Prepare the illumination entries and provide it to head of department together with supporting documents and/or analysis.

• Assist the financial manager in preparing and maintaining 5 years forecasts for the Construction Group.

• Assist the financial manager to improve financial awareness of the non-finance construction team through specialized training courses and site visits.

• Provide all necessary data and support to financial manager and senior finance team colleagues as required.

• Perform other assignments as necessary to support the function/department.

• Ensure working according to the company HSE policies and regulations, risk assessment and environmental aspects.


Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business Professional

Certification: Preference is for role holder to be studying for a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent)

Work Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in accounting, auditing or financial analysis.

Relevant experience in preparation of management accounts in a multi-site, decentralized organization First-hand experience of planning, budgeting and forecasting.

Language: Excellent command of English language French is a Preferred

Computer Skills: Good knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Internet Knowledge of ERP system desirable
