Role Description The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a full-time, on-site position based in Cairo, Egypt. This role involves leading the mechanical engineering aspects of construction projects, including design review, system selection, and coordination with civil, architectural, and electrical teams. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will prepare and validate mechanical designs and drawings, oversee installation and commissioning of mechanical systems, and ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations. Daily responsibilities include supervising junior engineers, reviewing contractor submittals, managing technical documentation, and resolving mechanical issues that arise during design and construction. The role also contributes to project planning, cost estimation, and continuous improvement of engineering processes.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong expertise in Mechanical Engineering, with a solid understanding of building services and infrastructure systems. Candidates should possess skills in Machine Design and Research and Development (R&D) to support optimization of mechanical solutions and innovative project approaches. Candidates should possess proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for preparing, reviewing, and modifying mechanical drawings and models. Candidates should possess Project Management skills to plan work, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, monitor progress, and meet project deadlines and budgets. Relevant bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (master’s degree is an advantage), along with several years of experience in construction or contracting environments. Ability to interpret technical standards and regulations, strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and attention to detail. Effective communication and leadership skills, with experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with stakeholders and contractors. Professional certifications, familiarity with international codes, and experience in large-scale residential or infrastructure projects are beneficial.
