PROJECT OVERVIEW
American Corner Alexandria seeks to engage a qualified trainer/facilitator to design and deliver two highly interactive workshops that utilize experiential learning, gamification, and reflective facilitation techniques. The workshops should foster participant engagement while developing key personal, interpersonal, and leadership competencies in alignment with the objectives of each event.
The trainer will be responsible for designing immersive learning experiences where participants actively learn through structured activities, games, reflection, and collaborative challenges rather than traditional lectures.
The trainer will design and facilitate the following workshops: (dates of the workshops will be later determined, with one being held in July and the other in August).
Workshop 1: 4th of July Celebration
• Theme: American Cultural Heritage, Community Building, and Creative Expression
• Target Audience: Young adults, adults, and community members
Workshop 2: International Youth Day
• Theme: Youth Empowerment, Leadership, Teamwork, and Capacity Building
• Target Audience: Youth and young professionals (15 30 years)
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasks and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
• Design customized experiential learning workshops/event days tailored to the objectives of each event
• Develop detailed facilitation plans, workshop agendas, and activity guides
• Design and facilitate highly interactive learning experiences using experiential learning and gamification methodologies
• Develop engaging activities that promote teamwork, communication, leadership, creativity, and critical thinking
• Incorporate a variety of facilitation techniques including simulations, role plays, team challenges, problem-solving activities, energizers, and collaborative exercises
• Design structured reflection and debriefing sessions following each major activity to reinforce learning outcomes and encourage practical application
• Adapt activities to suit participants' age groups, backgrounds and group dynamics
• Facilitate both workshops while ensuring high levels of participant engagement and interaction
• Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
• Coordinate with the American Corner Alexandria team regarding workshop flow, logistical requirements and activity setup
Program Outline:
Workshop 1 4th of July Celebration
The workshop should include activities related to:
• American culture and traditions
• Community engagement
• Team building
• Creative collaboration
• Interactive cultural trivia
• Collaborative storytelling
• Creative arts and crafts with learning objectives
• Team competitions and challenges
Workshop 2 International Youth Day
The workshop should include activities focused on:
• Leadership development
• Teamwork and collaboration
• Communication skills
• Strategic thinking
• Problem solving
• Conflict resolution
• Innovation and creativity
• Decision making
• Adaptability and resilience
• Reflection and action planning
Both workshops should utilize experiential learning methodologies where participants actively engage in learning through doing, reflecting, discussing and applying concepts.
DELIVERABLES
• Detailed workshop agenda for each event.
• Delivery and facilitation of both workshops.
• Comprehensive facilitation guide and session plans.
• Activity guide describing each experiential learning activity, including objectives, required materials, facilitation instructions and debriefing questions.
• List of all materials and equipment required to conduct the activities.
• Draft final workshop design and facilitation plan submitted for review and approval by the American Corner Alexandria focal point prior to implementation.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor s degree in education, Human Resources, Training, or another relevant field
• Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating experiential learning workshops
• Proven experience utilizing gamification and activity-based learning methodologies
• Experience working with youth, young adults, and diverse community groups
• Strong facilitation, presentation, and group management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to create innovative, engaging, and learner-centered activities
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple deliverables, and meet agreed timelines
