Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Medical Interpreter (English-Arabic). The Medical Interpreter will facilitate clear, accurate, and confidential communication between healthcare professionals and patients in English and Arabic. Day-to-day tasks include providing consecutive and simultaneous interpretation during medical consultations, procedures, and follow-up appointments, as well as translating related medical documents as needed. The role involves ensuring accurate use of medical terminology, maintaining neutrality, and adhering to professional standards and patient privacy regulations. The Medical Interpreter will collaborate with clinical staff, prepare for sessions by reviewing relevant materials, and document interpretation activities in accordance with organizational guidelines.
Qualifications
Strong skills in Medical Interpretation and Interpreting between English and Arabic. Proficiency in Medical Terminology in both English and Arabic, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly. Experience with Simultaneous Interpretation in medical or healthcare settings. Ability to perform Translation of medical documents and patient information accurately and efficiently. Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic, with excellent listening and communication skills. Prior experience as a medical or community interpreter, preferably in hospitals, clinics, or telehealth environments. Knowledge of patient confidentiality standards (such as HIPAA or similar regulations) and professional interpreter ethics. Strong attention to detail, emotional resilience, and ability to remain impartial in sensitive situations. Comfort with remote work tools and telehealth platforms; reliable internet connection and appropriate home working environment. Relevant certification or training in medical interpretation or healthcare interpreting is highly preferred.
