Position Overview
The IT Infrastructure & Support Administrator is responsible for the health, performance, and security of Gemma's network, hardware systems, and software applications. This hybrid role combines proactive network and systems administration with responsive end-user technical support — maximizing uptime for critical infrastructure while delivering excellent support to both on-site and remote employees.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Network Administration
- Administer, monitor, and maintain the corporate network — LAN/WAN, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless, and VPN — to ensure availability, performance, and security.
- Install, configure, and maintain servers (Windows and/or Linux), storage, and virtualization; manage capacity and performance.
- Implement and maintain network and endpoint security — firewalls, antivirus/endpoint protection, patching, and access controls.
- Design and maintain backup and recovery for servers and critical data; participate in disaster-recovery planning and testing.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and directory services (e.g., Active Directory), including onboarding and offboarding.
- Monitor infrastructure proactively and respond to alerts to minimize downtime for critical systems.
End-User Technical Support
- Provide responsive technical support to on-site and remote employees — hardware, software, network connectivity, email, and business applications.
- Log, manage, and resolve support tickets through to closure; escalate complex issues appropriately.
- Set up and configure end-user devices — PCs, laptops, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices.
- Administer and support common business and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft 365 and email).
- Maintain documentation, knowledge-base articles, and IT asset and inventory records.
