What you will do• Lead English department strategy, policies, and quality assurance for Grades 1–9 (Elementary and Middle School).• Align curriculum, instruction, and assessment to American standards (e.g., Common Core State Standards) and school pacing guides.• Design and sequence scope and sequence documents, units, and common assessments; ensure progression in phonics/early literacy, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, and composition.• Coach, mentor, and appraise ELA teachers; lead observations, feedback, calibration/moderation, and targeted professional development.• Build a strong reading culture: library use, guided reading, independent reading, and targeted interventions.• Use data (formative, summative, benchmark/MAP-style where applicable) to monitor progress, close gaps, and raise attainment.• Model excellent instruction, including differentiation, literacy across the curriculum, and effective practices for multilingual learners.• Coordinate resources, core texts, and edtech tools; promote effective use of interactive panels and learning platforms.• Communicate with parents and stakeholders; represent English in leadership meetings.• Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and whole-school policies.
What you bring• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education (ELA focus), or a related field; recognized teaching credential.• 5+ years of successful ELA teaching in American curriculum schools, including leadership or coordination.• Deep knowledge of ELA progression from Grade 1 to Grade 9 and standards-aligned assessment practices.• Proven record of raising attainment through curriculum design, coaching, and data-informed instruction.• Strong people leadership: coaching, feedback, scheduling input/staffing, and building a collaborative team culture.• Excellent command of English (C2-level or equivalent) for instruction, leadership communication, and parent engagement.
