Job Summary

 

To guide guests through the Takumi culinary journey by providing knowledgeable, attentive, and technically proficient table service. 

This role is responsible for executing the steps of service flawlessly and acting as a direct link between the guest and the kitchen's artistry.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Service Cycle Execution:

 

• Perform all steps of service for an assigned section, including greeting, presenting menus, taking orders, marking tables, and processing payments.

• Serve food and beverages using proper techniques, ensuring correct placement and presentation.

• Clear and reset tables efficiently and quietly between courses and after guests depart.

Product Knowledge & Sales:

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all food menu items, including ingredients, allergens, preparation methods, and flavor profiles.

• Possess a strong working knowledge of the beverage list to assist guests with selections.

• Use suggestive selling techniques to enhance the guest experience.

 

Order & Station Management:

• Accurately record and enter all orders into the POS system, including all modifications and dietary restrictions.

• Work collaboratively with Captains, Bussers, and Runners to ensure seamless service.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked waiter station before, during, and after service.

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Attentiveness: Observant and responsive to guest needs throughout their meal.

• Sales Acumen: Skilled in suggestive selling and upselling techniques in a natural, non-intrusive manner.

• Technical Proficiency: Skilled in carrying trays, serving from the correct side, and other service mechanics.

• Teamwork: Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with all FOH and BOH team members.

• Efficiency: Manages time and tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of 1-2 years of serving experience, preferably in a full-service, upscale restaurant.

• A demonstrated passion for food and hospitality.

• Food Handler and Alcohol Service certifications required.

• Good Grooming & Language Skills

 

Working Conditions:

• Requires the ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Involves prolonged standing, walking, and constant interaction with guests and staff.

• Must be able to carry trays with plates and glassware.
