1. Job Purpose
The Accounting Section Head is responsible for managing and supervising all daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and timely reporting. The role ensures the integrity of financial data, supervises accounting staff, and supports month-end and year-end closing activities.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Financial Accounting
Oversee daily accounting operations (AP, AR, GL, treasury, fixed assets).
Ensure accurate posting of journal entries and financial transactions.
Review and approve reconciliations, accruals, and provisions.
Maintain compliance with IFRS / GAAP and internal accounting policies.
B. Month-End & Year-End Closing
Lead month-end closing activities ensuring deadlines are met.
Review trial balance, adjustments, and supporting schedules.
Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.
Prepare financial statements or support the Finance Manager in their preparation.
C. Accounts Payable & Receivable
Ensure timely processing of payments and collections.
Review vendor statements, invoices, and customer balances.
Monitor aging reports, credit limits, and overdue accounts.
D. General Ledger & Financial Controls
Maintain accuracy and completeness of the general ledger.
Implement financial controls to prevent errors and fraud.
Ensure compliance with internal policies and audit requirements.
E. Budgeting & Forecasting Support
Support budgeting and forecasting cycles by providing accurate financial data.
Analyze variances between actual and budget and propose corrective actions.
