I. Planning & Initiation
Scope & Objectives: Defining and validating clear project objectives, scope, and deliverables with stakeholders and clients.
Design Review: Reviewing and approving technical designs, specifications, and ensuring compliance with civil engineering standards and regulations.
Scheduling: Developing and managing the comprehensive Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and the detailed critical path project schedule.
Budget & Cost Control: Preparing detailed cost estimates, establishing the project budget, and implementing stringent cost control measures to track expenditures and prevent overruns.
Risk Management: Proactively identifying potential technical, financial, and safety risks, and developing robust mitigation and contingency plans.
Contract Management: Overseeing the negotiation, finalization, and administration of contracts with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
II. Execution & Control
Leadership & Team Management: Leading, motivating, and managing the multidisciplinary project team (including site engineers, foremen, and safety officers).
Site Supervision: Supervising daily on-site construction activities and operations, ensuring strict adherence to design specifications and quality standards (QA/QC).
Safety Enforcement: Implementing and enforcing comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols across the job site to maintain a zero-incident culture.
Resource Allocation: Managing and allocating all required resources efficiently, including manpower, equipment, and materials.
Change Management: Managing all Change Orders, assessing their impact on the budget and timeline, and securing formal approvals before implementation.
Progress Monitoring: Continuously monitoring progress against the baseline schedule and budget, and taking corrective actions immediately if deviations occur.
III. Communication & Stakeholder Management
Reporting: Preparing and presenting accurate, timely project status reports to clients and senior management, highlighting performance, risks, and financial health.
Client Relations: Serving as the main point of contact for the client, managing expectations, and ensuring ultimate client satisfaction.
Coordination: Coordinating and integrating the efforts of all external parties, including government agencies, utility companies, and third-party consultants.
Issue Resolution: Resolving technical, contractual, or personnel-related issues and conflicts quickly to maintain project momentum.
IV. Closeout & Handover
Final Inspection: Overseeing final project inspections, testing, and commissioning processes.
Documentation: Ensuring the completion and archiving of all final project documentation, including As-Built Drawings, warranties, manuals, and necessary certifications.
Financial Closure: Finalizing all project accounts, outstanding payments, and ensuring financial closure.
Lessons Learned: Conducting a formal review session to capture lessons learned for continuous process improvement in future projects.
Education: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering is mandatory. A Master's degree (M.Sc. or MBA) is highly preferred.Experience: Minimum of 10-12 years of progressive experience in the Civil Engineering and Construction industry.Management Tenure: At least 5 years of direct experience managing and delivering complex, large-scale projects from initiation to closeout.Certification: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is highly required.Contract Expertise: Expert understanding of various contract types (e.g., FIDIC) and strong knowledge of claims and change order management.Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in project scheduling software (Primavera P6 or MS Project) and technical software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D). Essential Technical & Leadership Skills: Leadership & Team Management: Exceptional proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage multidisciplinary project teams effectively.Budget & Finance: Mastery in developing, forecasting, and controlling large project budgets, ensuring financial profitability.Risk Management: Demonstrated expertise in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating project risks (technical, safety, and financial).HSE Compliance: Strong commitment to and full knowledge of enforcing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and local construction codes.Communication: Outstanding communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for effective stakeholder and client management.Problem Solving: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a proven track record of resolving complex on-site issues and conflicts under pressure.Mentoring: Experience in coaching and developing junior engineers and project staff.
