Job Purpose:
As a QA Tester at MIT, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of telecom/IT related applications including Digital Channels (MobileApp & Portal), platforms, and services. You will develop, execute, and manage detailed test plans, ensuring that all systems meet performance, security, usability, and functional standards. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams including developers, designer, business analysts, and project managers to identify and resolve quality issues in software and system releases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test Planning & Strategy:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans for telecom services, applications, and systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements, technical specifications, and application features to design effective test strategies.
- Define test objectives, scope, timelines, and resources for each phase of testing.
- Identify test scenarios, prepare test cases, and ensure that they align with the functional and non-functional requirements.
- Test Execution & Reporting:
- Execute manual and automated test cases for functional, regression, integration, system, and performance testing.
- Analyze results from test executions, detect issues, and document them clearly for further investigation.
- Provide detailed reports on test results, including clear descriptions of issues, severity, and recommendations for resolution.
- Validate bug fixes and ensure that issues are resolved according to specifications.
- Perform end-to-end testing across various devices, operating systems, and networks to ensure compatibility and performance.
- Automation Testing (optional but preferred):
- Develop, implement, and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard tools (LeapWork, BrowserStack, Selenium, Appium, JMeter).
- Work on creating and expanding automation frameworks to optimize testing efficiency and repeatability.
- Conduct performance and load testing on network services, web applications, and mobile apps.
- Defect Management:
- Identify, report, and track defects throughout the software development lifecycle using defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA).
- Collaborate with developers to reproduce issues, debug code, and verify bug fixes.
- Participate in daily stand-ups and sprint reviews to ensure quality issues are addressed in a timely manner.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with developers, product managers, and business analysts to ensure that all functional and non-functional requirements are understood and implemented correctly.
- Actively participate in sprint planning, daily scrums, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Provide regular feedback to the team and management on quality metrics and the overall status of testing efforts.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously assess and improve testing processes, methodologies, and tools to ensure the highest quality standards.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in quality assurance and telecom technology.
- Train junior QA team members, providing mentorship and technical support as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.Experience: Overall IT Experience – 5-7 yrs ; Relevant Testing Experience in Mobile App, Web, Telecom – 3 Yrs Technical Skills:Expertise in mobile testing across Android, iOS, and cross-platform environmentsExperience testing e-commerce platforms (e.g., payment gateways, user flows, shopping cart functionalities)Hands-on experience with cross-browser and device testing for web and mobile applicationsSolid understanding of telecom products and services, including voice, data, mobile applications, Ecommerce, Digital and network infrastructure.Experience with Digital channels testing (e.g., Mobile apps, Web portals, Chat bots, Ecommerce, API)Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and testing in Agile environments.API Testing ( Postman/SOAPUI)UI/UX Testing Proficiency in manual and automated testing tools (JMeter, LeapWork, BrowserStack)Strong knowledge of database testing, SQL, API and working with relational databases. Soft Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot issues across complex systems.Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and meet deadlines.Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical details to non-technical stakeholders.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment.Certifications (optional but preferred): ISTQB Certified Tester (Foundation or Advanced Level).
