Job title: “Quantity Surveyor” 

 

On behalf of our multinational client; we are seeking a competent and experienced quantity surveyor to join the team at Amazon Engineering Services. As a quantity surveyor, you will manage engineering project, from the initial calculations to the final figures. Your role will be highly critical in ensuring the accuracy of estimating of the engineering costs. As a vital team member, you will work closely with design team, construction team, contractors and other professionals. You will be essential to the venture’s success by providing expert advice on cost management, contract negotiation and procurement. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that construction projects are profitable and financially sustainable. 

 

Objectives of this role: 

• Preparation of bills of quantities/support in tender documents. 

• Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best prices and terms. 

• Contribution to project budgets, including forecasting and monitoring costs. 

• Maintaining accurate records and documentation of all project-related costs and estimates. 

• Provide expert advice on procurement, risk management and cost-saving measures. 

 

Core Responsibilities: 

• Prepare detailed bills of quantities for engineering projects 

• Analyze costs, value engineering, and maintain cost plans throughout project lifecycles 

• Review and evaluate tender documents, contractor proposals, and variation orders 

• Contribute to procurement processes 

• Monitor project costs and prepare cash flow forecasts 

• Contribute in negotiations with contractors and suppliers 

• Process interim payments and final accounts 

• Provide commercial and contractual advice to project teams

Required skills and qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, quantity surveying, construction management or a related field. • 6+ years of experience in quantity surveying or cost consulting, preferably in the construction industry and in MENA Region. • Proficiency in cost estimation and cost management techniques. • Professional membership in relevant industry body (RICS or equivalent) • Sound knowledge of construction industry, and particularity in industrial warehousing projects is required (minimum 4 years experience) as well as knowledge in practices, regulations and standards. • Knowledge of service guidelines, such as the National Building Code (NBC), ANSI/ASHRAE for HVAC, and LEED for green buildings. • Familiarity with contract administration and legal aspects of construction projects. • Understanding general contracting, design-build, package contracting, value-based project and loading margins and lumpsum in commercial fit-out. • Experience working with AutoCAD and validating quantities from the given drawings. • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with extraordinary negotiation abilities. • Experience with building information modelling (BIM) and quantity takeoff software, and Proficiency in relevant software and tools for quantity surveying.  Preferred skills and qualifications • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills • Strong negotiation and communication abilities • Proficient in MS Office and cost management software • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills • Problem-solving capabilities • Team player with ability to work independently • Familiarity with contract law and construction contracts. • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
