Key Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis and design for ground-mounted and rooftop solar PV projects.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant international standards (Eurocodes / AISC / ASCE / IBC / ASTM).
Assess wind, snow, seismic, and soil load impacts on PV mounting structures.
Collaborate with geotechnical engineers to review site investigation reports and determine appropriate foundation solutions (driven piles, ground screws, concrete footings, ballast, etc.).
Provide foundation design recommendations based on soil parameters, site conditions, and project requirements.
Prepare structural calculation reports, design drawings, and design basis documentation for clients and certification bodies.
Optimize mounting system designs to achieve structural safety, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
Support tendering and project delivery teams with structural input, including feasibility assessments and design optimizations.
Review and approve third-party designs, structural certifications, and supplier submittals.
Liaise with project managers, electrical engineers, and construction teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Qualifications & SkillsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.Chartered Engineer (or working towards chartership) preferred.Strong knowledge of Eurocodes and/or American structural codes (AISC, ASCE 7, IBC).Experience in geotechnical engineering principles and foundation design for renewable or infrastructure projects.Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., RFEM, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, Robot Structural, etc.).Ability to interpret geotechnical reports and translate findings into structural foundation recommendations.Familiarity with PV mounting systems and renewable energy projects is highly desirable.Strong communication and report-writing skills.Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work in multidisciplinary teams.
